The Guild Ledger

Changelog

What's new and what's been fixed around the tavern, newest first.

Club stats for organisers, and a clearer privacy page

Organisers now have a Club stats page in the Admin area. It shows how the club is using the site: game nights, tables and sessions, members finding games, the wiki, board, tales and library. It shows counts and trends only, never names, and never a ranking of members.

To make this possible, the site now keeps simple daily counts of how often its main pages are viewed. These counts are anonymous: nothing about who you are, your IP address or a cookie is stored with them, and nothing is saved on your device. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, you're not counted at all. "Last seen" on your profile now shows the last day you used the site, not just the last time you signed in.

The Privacy Policy has been updated to explain exactly what is counted and for how long.

Also fixed: when linking a wiki page to a pin on a map, pressing Enter straight after typing now always picks the page you searched for.

One-shots on any game night, drop-in tables, and turning a one-shot into a table

  • One-shots on any night. Short of a DM on a regular game night? Organisers can now press Add table on any upcoming night, not just special events, and DMs can offer to Run a table for an organiser to approve.
  • Drop-in only tables. If you run a different one-shot most weeks, switch your table to Drop-in only in its settings. Players then sign up to each session rather than joining the table, and everyone already at your table stays. You can see and remove the players coming to each session from the Party tab, and they get the usual reminder the day before.
  • Make a full table. A one-shot that went well can keep going. Its DM or an organiser can press Make a full table, from the night or afterwards from the night's Attended tab, to turn it into a proper table listed under Tables and invite everyone who played.
  • Crypt chambers for each campaign. When a table starts a new campaign, its fallen get a chamber of their own, and the plaque says which campaign it belongs to.
  • Past game nights now show every table that ran.
  • Archived tables no longer show up on game night rosters.
  • Board posts with photos can be saved again after editing.

Start a new campaign on your table

For DMs: when your group has moved on and you're taking on new players for the same campaign, you no longer have to rebuild everything. Start a new campaign (on your table's Manage tab, in the Danger Zone) starts the table fresh and keeps your wiki exactly as it is.

  • The old players move to Past players. Their sessions and notes are kept as an archive that only you and they can read, so there are no spoilers for the newcomers.
  • Upcoming sessions are cancelled, and the table chat gets a fresh channel.
  • Pages you'd shared with the old players become DM-only, ready to share with the new group.
  • You can choose to start The Story So Far afresh. The old one is kept with the old campaign.
  • Changed your mind? You can undo it until the new group gets going.

Players from an earlier campaign get a notification, and can still read their old sessions and notes.

Also fixed: leaving a table now removes the wiki pages that had been shared with you there, as our privacy policy promised. We've added two lines to the privacy policy about how long campaign records are kept.

Wiki home pages, linking pages with !, and Add to wiki

Lots of new things for table wikis:

  • Every wiki has a home page. The Wiki tab now opens on it. Each table starts with a ready-made Home page to edit, or the DM can make any page everyone can read the home page.
  • Link a wiki page with ! In a session's notes or description, or The Story So Far, type ! and part of a page's title to link to it. You only ever see pages you're allowed to read. Your table's pages come first, and More… finds pages at your other tables. Session descriptions now show formatting too: bold, lists and links.
  • Add to wiki from the Map Generator. DMs can send the map they've just made straight into their table's Atlas. It stays hidden from players until the DM chooses otherwise.
  • Tidy up files. Tick several unfiled files and file them onto a page in one go, even a brand-new page. Move… shifts any attachment to another page.
  • Fold away groups in the page list, and the wiki remembers how you left them.
  • Share a map with chosen players, just like a page.
  • Guests can read their prep. A DM can let drop-in guests who are coming to a session read that session's prep pages. Switch it on in Manage → Table settings.
  • Open your wiki to the club. A DM can let every signed-in member read their table's wiki. It's ideal for a setting guide or an example campaign.
  • Show me around. Press the ? beside the page search for a quick tour of the wiki, the page editor and maps.

Fixes: choosing a page for a map pin links it again, instead of saving as "Unknown Place". The Back button steps through wiki pages. Links inside the wiki open without reloading the table. The editor's toolbar fits on a phone. Mark done in Guided tours now shows a tick.

Tidier pages: a page's Delete button is now red, and each picture's download button sits in its corner. We've retired two little-used buttons: Make interactive (use ▦ New map instead) and Promote to Tales.

Phone fixes, and the DM's secrets stay secret

  • Long names no longer run off your phone screen. Game nights with long names no longer push the home page sideways or spill off their card, and the DM badge on a table's Party tab stays on screen next to long names.
  • For admins who also play at a table: wiki pages, files and map pins the DM kept secret now arrive veiled, with a warning, until you choose to reveal them — so being an admin doesn't spoil your own game.

The World Wiki and maps, now open to every table

Every table now has its own World Wiki: a home for the campaign's lore, characters, quests, locations and handouts. It also has interactive maps you can pin places on. The wiki has been tried with a few tables, and it's now open to everyone.

  • Find it on the Wiki tab of your table's page.
  • DMs choose who sees each page: the whole table, only themselves, or only the players they pick.
  • Maps and handouts live on wiki pages. If your table uploaded files before, they're waiting in Unfiled on the Wiki tab for your DM to file onto a page. Nothing has been deleted.

Tables, sessions, game nights and the board, rebuilt — and a lot of phone fixes

A big one. Tables, sessions, game nights, the bulletin board and every form have a new layout, and most of the smaller fixes came from using the site on a phone.

Finding a game
- New: Find a Game on the homepage. Answer a couple of quick questions and you get the tables that suit you, each with the reasons it matches.
- New: Looking for a game. Switch it on in Settings → Play preferences to show a Looking for a game badge on the Members page, where DMs can filter for you. The day before a game night you're going to, you'll get a heads-up if a table still has a free seat.
- On a game night, a DM inviting players to their table sees everyone coming that night who's looking for a game, and picks who to invite.
- Changed your mind? You can now withdraw a request to join a table. The DM isn't notified.

The homepage
- Your next-session cards show how many comments the session has. You can add a comment right there, and there's a link straight to the table's chat.

Your table's page
- Every table now has one page with tabs: Overview, Sessions, Party and, for the DM, Manage. The tabs switch instantly, without reloading the page.
- The header always shows the game system, the DM, how many seats are taken and how many sessions have been played. DMs also see a banner when someone wants a seat.
- The Overview shows the next session, the story so far, the party, the table chat and a feed of recent activity.
- Sessions can be filtered by upcoming, past and cancelled. Party shows the roster, drop-in guests and who came to the last six sessions.
- Manage gathers join requests, invites and the table's settings, which are now simple switches. DMs can now approve drop-in guests before they take a spot, and choose whether anyone in the club can read or post in the table chat.
- Tables that go quiet for eight weeks now get a heads-up, and are archived a week later if nothing changes. Admins can put this on hold for a table that's just taking a break.

Sessions
- Session pages have a cleaner two-column layout, with Previous and Next buttons to move between sessions. Saying you're going, maybe or out updates straight away.
- On a phone, the Going / Maybe / Out buttons sit in the page under the session details, instead of being stuck to the bottom of the screen.
- DMs' buttons line up in a tidy grid on a phone, and nothing runs off the edge.
- "Show me around" no longer points DMs at a button only players can see.

Game nights
- Every night's page shows at a glance how many people are coming, which tables are running and how many seats are open.
- On a phone, the Going / Maybe / Out buttons sit above tonight's line-up, not stuck to the bottom of the screen.
- Organisers get Tonight, Roster, Raffles and Manage tabs, with a readiness summary and the night's settings as switches.
- Once a night has happened, its page shows who attended.
- When you set up a special night, the DMs you pick appear in a panel alongside. "Darken the banner" now previews on your banner as you toggle it.

The bulletin board
- A fresh look for the board and for each notice, with replies laid out more clearly and better tools for moderators. The filter pills now wrap onto a second line on a phone instead of running off the side.

The World Wiki (beta test)
The World Wiki is being tried with a few tables first, and will open to everyone later.
- A table's maps and handouts now live on its wiki pages as attachments. Files uploaded before the change wait in an Unfiled pile until the DM moves them onto a page.
- DMs can share a page with only the players they choose, which is perfect for a secret item or a private reveal. Those players get a notification.
- A session can list the wiki pages to prep for it, and clicking between wiki pages no longer reloads the page.
- On a computer, PDFs open right in the page.
- Tables not yet in the beta can still see and download files they uploaded before, under a Files tab. New uploads go on wiki pages once a table joins the World Wiki.

Everywhere
- Every form has a clearer, grouped layout, with Save and Cancel at the bottom where you'd expect them.
- Uploading a banner: only the Browse button opens the file picker, the preview has a proper frame, and you can remove a banner, including one you've just picked.
- Pop-ups and questions all use the site's own style now, including "Discard your changes?" if you leave a half-finished form.
- Pop-ups on a phone keep their buttons on screen, even with the keyboard open.
- Light mode and dark mode now match exactly. Nothing is a pixel bigger in one than the other.
- Lots of smaller fixes:
- switches no longer wiggle when you change a setting, and a quick second click is never lost;
- writing boxes use the full width;
- pages sit neatly centred on wide screens;
- tabs fit on a phone;
- the "Take a tour?" banner no longer covers pictures and PDFs you've opened.

A new door check-in code, whenever you need one

Shared your check-in QR by accident, or lost the phone it was on? You can now get a new one yourself from Settings → Password & security — the old code stops working at the door straight away. It's once a day, and an organiser can do it for you if you're stuck (you'll get a notification when they do).

Contact replies can't be sent twice by accident

When an organiser replies to a contact message, the Send button now locks and reads "Sending…" until the reply has gone, and sending the same reply again within a couple of minutes is politely refused. Every form on the site that submits a page now locks its button the same way while it works.

A tidier profile page

Your profile has been reorganised so the things that need you come first.

  • Needs an answer sits at the top: invites you've been sent, and sessions at your own tables you haven't RSVP'd to yet. Answer them right there. Game nights don't nag — a night you're not going to simply doesn't need an answer.
  • Below it, tabs: Up next, Tables, History, Tales and Notifications — switching tabs and paging through lists no longer reloads the page. Your notifications now live here (the bell's "See all activity" brings you straight to them).
  • Settings has its own page, reached from your profile: reminders, play preferences, notifications, guided tours, your picture and names, password, a download of your data and more. Changes save the moment you make them, with a small note confirming what changed. You can also mark any guided tour as not done to take it again.
  • Someone else's profile is now one short page: their tables, their tales, and Invite / Message / Report / Block.

Also in this update

  • Dungeon Masters and admins can upload PDF handouts (up to 20 MB) to a table's Resources, alongside pictures. Players at the table get a Documents list with Open and Download, and PDFs are included in Download All and the campaign archive.
  • The invite dialog on a member's profile now lists only your own tables and sessions, and the game nights you're going to; a full table shows as "no seats left".
  • Fixed: the open spots slider on the table forms wasn't working; the guided-tour pointers were invisible against the sidebar.
  • Bell notifications are now kept for 90 days once read (a year if never read) — see the Privacy Policy.
