Session Recap

The one where the Party does the thing with a Bag of Holding and a Portable Hole

GCotter 14 Jul 2026

Our rag-tag group of adventurers, The Whiplash, picked up from our last session right in the thick of it. In the middle of a heist mission, breaking into the spell protected vault of the world’s pre-eminent wizarding university. The party had taken some time to recover having just defeated an animated statue charged with defending the contents of the vault from would be thieves.

Unfortunately, having defeated the Vault Defender the party proceed to ransack all the contents of the vault they could reach, setting off every magical alarm and alerting the authorities to their presence. As the warlock of the party was spirited away by their patron for some unknown reason, the rest of the party heard sounds of movement coming from the elevator outside the vault doors – the only way in or out!!

Spending their precious few moments to prepare frantically shoving the two party tanks into the party’s handy Portable Hole and casting Tenser’s Floating Disk, allowing the rest of the party to form a cheerleader like pyramid on the disk and floating it up into the air, hopefully out of sight. That’s when the living spells burst into the room and unluckily for the Whiplash, were able to tilt their heads to see five adventurers just about balancing on a 3ft wide magic platform 20ft in the air, in the middle of the room.

Roll Intiative!

The party were vastly outnumbered, and 4 Living Magic Misle spells and a Living Burning Hands spell went first, each attacking the party Ranger, who barely made it through the attacks alive, with the intervention of two handy counterspells from his party mates. Next up was the Ranger himself, the goblin Grimlu, who seeing no way to defeat the insurmountable odds against him, took out the Portable Hole and shoved it into the party’s Bag of Holding!

The resulting tear in the fabric of reality sucked the party into the Astral Sea, barely clinging together and scattering the contents of both the Portable Hole and the Bag of Holding into endless infinity. The contents which unfortunately included the party Paladin and Fighter!

The session ended early, if you can believe it, with the party stuck on the Astral Plain, separated from their allies, and with no way home…
